I am a biochemist and microbiologist by training with a long-standing interest in antibiotic-resistant pathogens and the bacterial cell wall as an antibacterial target. My research focuses on the elucidation of the mode of action of inhibitors targeting the cell wall biosynthesis pathway on a whole cell approach, by combining microbiological, biochemical, and molecular biology approaches. More recently, my work has expanded to bacterial biofilm research, to evaluate how antimicrobial compounds perform in biofilm-associated infections.
