My research focuses on the characterization of novel vancomycin-teixobactin derivatives to combat multidrug-resistant bacterial pathogens. The objective is to combine structural features of both scaffolds to enhance antibacterial potency and stability. A central emphasis lies on elucidating the mode of action, particularly interactions with cell wall precursors such as lipid II, as well as potential membrane-associated effects. Using biophysical. Microbiological and molecular approaches, I investigate target binding, membrane perturbation and resistance development to systematically define structure-activity relationship and assess therapeutic potential.
