Anna Mueller studied Molecular Biomedicine, is a trained microbiologist, and completed her PhD in 2015. She is a science enthusiast with a strong interest in cell surface polymers of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative priority pathogens. Her research primarily focuses on peptidoglycan biosynthesis and remodeling, particularly the adaptations found in resistant bacteria, as well as capsule biosynthesis in Klebsiella and Streptococcus species. She also investigates the regulatory networks that coordinate the different biosynthetic machineries. Additionally, her secondary focus is studying the mechanisms of action and resistance of novel antibiotics, with particular emphasis on polyketides and other natural products.
